Ocean of Emptiness

Empty of thoughts, feelings, images – empty of everything that arises in our consciousness, we discover that we dissolve into oneness.

Sit, close your eyes, start to relax. 

Scan your body slowly and see if there are any tensions. If there are, focus your attention in the body and allow any area that has tension to feel heavy and soft until tension fades away.

Take three deep in-breaths, then, on each out-breath, feel a deeper level of relaxation to come into the body. 

Don't try to do anything with your mind - just relax.

Let your breathing gradually return to normal and stay relaxed.

Use your imagination - visualise your body lying on sand at the ocean's edge on a quiet beach in the warm sun.

Feel water come around you from a gentle wave.

The water is a pleasant relaxing feeling.

Your body is fully supported, relaxed. 

Feel your body floating.

Your body is on the surface. Watch it from below.

Your body is above you.

Your body has a name, gender, age.

Your body has height, weight, organs, skin, hair, eyes.

Your body has all its qualities of thinking, emotion, sensation.

All the body.

The body houses the mind, with memories, relationships, ideas, beliefs, knowledge, judgements, feelings, images – everything that arises in our consciousness.

Leave the mind with the body on the surface.

Watch your body from the quietness below and drop down deeper and away from it.

Leave everything of the body, mind and world on the surface. 

Watch the body gently floating on the surface as you drop deeper.

Your body stays on the surface. Your mind, your ego. Everything on the surface with the body.

Enjoy the experience of no attachment to the body, no attachment to anything, just feeling free.

Everything on the surface will stay there until you decide to return.

What is this 'you' that is watching from below?

Feel it.

Any description that comes...

Let it go.

Let everything go.

All thoughts, images - let them go - become empty.

Keep emptying of anything that comes, letting go, watching as it drifts away upwards.

You are empty.

What is it that is empty?

See if you can find it.

Any idea or feeling - let it go.

Anything you see - let it go. 

Each time anything comes - an echo from the surface - let it go. 

Drop deeper into beautiful emptiness. 

The depth of emptiness.

Dissolve into the ocean of emptiness.

At home in the ocean.
